What Makes Us Different
Dr. Eskow has the unique distinction of being board certified in two disciplines, periodontics and oral medicine, and providing a specialty practice that offers skills and expertise in three very important areas of oral care:
1. Periodontics – The detection, treatment and prevention of gum disease
Dr. Eskow is a board-certified periodontist with extensive periodontal and implant training. He specializes in non-surgical and surgical treatments of periodontal (gum) disease including gingivitis, periodontitis, and gingival recession. He is particularly skilled in procedures that will esthetically enhance a smile which include cosmetic periodontal surgery, crown lengthening, gum grafting and bone grafting.
2. Implant Dentistry – The means of replacing a missing tooth or teeth and related preventive care
Through the placement of dental implants, Dr. Eskow is able to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel and function like natural teeth. Implants offer a more esthetic, secure and more enduring way to replace teeth, providing the patient with greater satisfaction than with methods such as dentures. He also specializes in the treatment of peri-implant disease, a condition similar to periodontal disease but which is found around implants instead of teeth.
3. Oral Medicine – The diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the mouth, head and neck that may be caused or complicated by other medical conditions
Dr. Eskow is also a board-certified specialist in oral medicine. Oral medicine specialists treat a wide variety of conditions of the face and oral cavity including oral mucosal diseases, orofacial pain conditions, temporomandibular disorders (TMJ/TMD), disorders of the salivary glands and dry mouth, oral complications related to cancer and other medical treatments, and may also provide dental care for patients with complex medical problems.
The treatment in any one of these three areas frequently requires a team approach involving your dentist and/or physician. Dr. Eskow will work closely with your team, but a referral by a dentist or physician is not required to become a patient in our practice.
We also welcome referrals from patients and friends of the practice.
