What Makes Us Different

Dr. Eskow has the unique distinction of being board certified in two disciplines, periodontics, and oral medicine, and providing a specialty practice that offers skills and expertise in three very important areas of oral care:

1.  Periodontics – The detection, treatment, and prevention of gum disease

Dr. Eskow is a board-certified periodontist with extensive periodontal and implant training.  He specializes in non-surgical and surgical treatments of periodontal (gum) disease including gingivitis, periodontitis, and gingival recession.  He is particularly skilled in procedures that will esthetically enhance a smile which includes cosmetic periodontal surgery, crown lengthening, gum grafting and bone grafting.

2. Implant Dentistry – The means of replacing a missing tooth or teeth and related preventive care

Through the placement of dental implants, Dr. Eskow is able to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel and function like natural teeth.  Implants offer a more esthetic, secure, and more enduring way to replace teeth, providing the patient with greater satisfaction than with methods such as dentures.  He also specializes in the treatment of peri-implant disease, a condition similar to periodontal disease but which is found around implants instead of teeth.

3. Oral Medicine – The diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the mouth, head, and neck that may be caused or complicated by other medical conditions

Dr. Eskow is also a board-certified specialist in oral medicine.   Oral medicine specialists treat a wide variety of conditions of the face and oral cavity including oral mucosal diseases, orofacial pain conditions, temporomandibular disorders (TMJ/TMD), disorders of the salivary glands and dry mouth, oral complications related to cancer and other medical treatments, and may also provide dental care for patients with complex medical problems.

4. 2019 Annual Top Dentist – We are featured in the Annual Top Dentist List of New Jersey Monthly

The 2018 Annual Top Dentists List issue of New Jersey Monthly included a description of the recently recognized dental specialty of Oral Medicine.  A past president of the American Academy of Oral Medicine, Dr. Robert Eskow was quoted as describing the conditions and diseases that Oral Medicine specialists manage.
